MONDAY MOTIVATION: Rising to Greater Heights in the Face of Adversity

By Rev. René François

FACING THE HEADWINDS

Sometimes, life gives you a “tailwind.” Those are the good times, when the wind is at your back aiding you in your ability to propel forward toward your goal or dream with ease, unimpeded by life’s difficulties. And then there are the difficult times when life gives you obstacles, or a “headwind,” that impedes your progress or threatens to stop it altogether. Of course, we all love the good times when we’re able to cruise with the wind at our back. Those are the easy times, but what do you do when adversity strikes—when you’re faced with a headwind?

There is a saying, “When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.” When difficulties—life’s headwinds—occur, we have a choice. We can either see only the obstacle that stands between us and our goal/dream and allow it to block our progress, or, we can meet adversity head on with a positive outlook and creativity to imagine possibilities for overcoming the problem. It’s an opportunity to exercise our faith by taking action based on Scripture that with God “All things are possible.”

RISING TO GREATER HEIGHTS

Just as a plane takes off against the wind, we can use the headwinds of life as wind beneath our wings to lift us above and beyond the obstacles. Therefore, let us not despair when faced with adversity. Instead, let us view it as an opportunity to rise up to even greater heights in achieving our goals and dreams.🕊💕

Benefits of Adversity:

• Forces us to use our creativity to overcome problems

• Leads us back to God when solving the problem/s require wisdom beyond our human understanding

• Makes us wiser and stronger in our faith for having persevered and overcome

• Builds character that helps us to become better reflections of Christ

James 1:2-4

“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”
